Comments from breeder Matt Pedersen:

"I’m torn on a fish like this.  The patterning, being one of the few “horned” maroons that showed up, is show stopping in itself.  Left flank horn trailing from the midstripe is pretty darn cool.  That said, the gills might be a tad bit short, the ventral fins aren’t up to snuff.  There’s also a split in the tail at the time of taking the photo – this is no doubt aggression (or handling) and should heal.

A fish like this might wind up being culled or further grown out ordinarily (a wait and see). As with all fish being offered, the defects are not presumed genetic at this time, and the main reason for offering these fish is to broaden the size of the F1 population going forward (ensuring genetic stability where possible)."

Just in time for the Holidays, Blue Zoo Aquatics is releasing the next 6 PNG Lightning Maroon Clownfish in 2 waves starting on 11/16/2013. The second wave will hit around the beginning of December.

After nearly 3 years of toil, trouble and extreme dedication, breeder Matt Pedersen is proud to offer to the US market the next batch of these truly remarkable fish. For those discovering this amazing animal for the first time, please click HERE to familiarize yourself with the extraordinary journey that has taken place to bring these fish to market.

These next 6 will be auctioned off in individual eBay listings. Each listing in each wave will be staggered by about 12 hours to give everybody the best chance to obtain one of these remarkable fish. Four of these fish display the striking lightning pattern similar to their mother while two of these fish look similar to a normal patterned maroon clownfish except for distinctive jagged striping and the odd white dot in different places. These two siblings are the only PNG bloodline maroon clownfish on the market and the best bet for continued breeding and development of the lightning pattern. Matt has more information about this on his website, http://www.lightning-maroon-clownfish.com so be sure to check it out.
