Very special, very beautiful vintage 1950s circle skirt and matching bolero jackets by the inventor of the circle skirt, Juli Lynne Charlot. To quote the Vintage Fashion Guild's Label Resource, "Juli Lynne Charlot, born Shirley Ann Agin, was an actress turned designer. In 1947, she designed a felt circle skirt which she decorated with appliquéd Christmas trees. The skirt was such a success that she continued to design similar skirts with embroidered and appliquéd motifs. According to some sources, Charlot was the originator of the poodle skirt. She also did marvelously decorated sweaters, and sometimes did matching sweater and skirt sets. There are also sometimes matching accessories with this label.Shirley Ann Agin, was an actress turned designer. This set does not disappoint - it's made of black felt, covered with tiny hearts and flowers in hot pink and pale pink, with green yard stems and leaves. The flowers are detailed with sequins and beads. The skirt has a high waist, with vertical seams all the way around. The vest/jacket is bolero length and tapered, with capped sleeves. It is edged with tiny black loops. There are, strangely, two bolero jackets. They are identical - one is just a little smaller than the other. They both are included in the auction. Fabric contents: Wool. Lining: None. A petticoat was used to fill out the skirt for the photos - it is not included in the auction. Measurements: Label: "Juli Lynne Charlot California" Condition: Very good - these were owned by a cat owner and there are some cat hairs embedded in the felt. There is also an area near the hem where it looks like something was spilled onto the skirt, rsulting in a subtle change in the texture of the felt and several holes (see photos below of the view from the interior and the exterior).
