Comments from breeder Matt Pedersen:

One of the nicer white stripe offspring in this batch. No special markings…no spots, no horns, but yet, look at how the stripes have developed! Symetrical upper breaks on the midstripe, scalloped edges, breakups towards the bottom. If ever there was a fish that suggested that the Lightning Maroon genetics might be partially dominant, and that the single dose was very subtle, this would be the fish to suggest that! All speculation, but darnit, it’s kinda pretty! Still, this fish isn’t perfect – the head shape could be better. But, this is likely a rearing issue and I do not believe it to be genetic. The issues with the head are not necessarily so severe that this fish would be culled. Not too bad in the grand scheme. The only truly noteworth defect on the fish is one or more missing caudal rays on the lower edge of the tail; this is presumably the result of skirmishes when younger (as are many of the issues seen in these fish – more recent batches, illustrate that when the fish are reared singly, they tend to come out MUCH better).

As of 6/6/2014, this fish was 2.75 inches in total length.

Summer is here and it's time for the next wave of Lightning Maroon Clownfish to hit the market. We are very pleased to launch Round 2 of this Summer wave with 4 clownfish that might be among the best released to date.

After nearly 3 years of toil, trouble and extreme dedication, breeder Matt Pedersen is proud to offer to the US market the next batch of these truly remarkable fish. For those discovering this amazing animal for the first time, please click HERE to familiarize yourself with the extraordinary journey that has taken place to bring these fish to market.

These next 4 will be auctioned off in individual eBay listings.

Each listing in each wave will be staggered by about 12 hours to give everybody the best chance to obtain one of these remarkable fish. Two of these fish display the striking lightning pattern similar to their mother and two of these fish look similar to a normal patterned maroon clownfish except for distinctive jagged striping and the odd white dot in different places. These siblings are the only PNG bloodline maroon clownfish on the market and the best bet for continued breeding and development of the lightning pattern. Matt has more information about this on his website, http://www.lightning-maroon-clownfish.com so be sure to check it out.
