Comments from breeder Matt Pedersen:
One of the nicer white stripe offspring in this batch. No special markings…no spots, no horns, but yet, look at how the stripes have developed! Symetrical upper breaks on the midstripe, scalloped edges, breakups towards the bottom. If ever there was a fish that suggested that the Lightning Maroon genetics might be partially dominant, and that the single dose was very subtle, this would be the fish to suggest that! All speculation, but darnit, it’s kinda pretty! Still, this fish isn’t perfect – the head shape could be better. But, this is likely a rearing issue and I do not believe it to be genetic. The issues with the head are not necessarily so severe that this fish would be culled. Not too bad in the grand scheme. The only truly noteworth defect on the fish is one or more missing caudal rays on the lower edge of the tail; this is presumably the result of skirmishes when younger (as are many of the issues seen in these fish – more recent batches, illustrate that when the fish are reared singly, they tend to come out MUCH better).
