eBay
Rare Acorn A7000 RISC PC server.

This auction is for a customized Acorn A7000 that was used to run OmniBus Systems' OUI software for a TV station in New Zealand.

NOTE: I previously thought this was a Acorn RISC PC 600, but someone has pointed out the motherboard looks more like an A7000 and I have to agree. I know that these were connected to Acorn RISC PC 600s which is why I assumed they were the same.

I know very little about this, to be honest I'm not even sure it's a server so please see the photos and ask questions (or give me answers if you like). I know it was used in a 'television playout environment'. Please ask questions if you need me to give more details. It seems to have some customs built Acorn cards inside.

Photos show what is inside.

Power supply says it will accept either 110V or 250V at 50 or 60Hz. This has been tested with 240V so double check it and switch it before powering on if you are in a 110V area.

This is for server only (with all cards and internals). Does not include a power lead (which is just a standard PC power lead).

Please see my other auctions or ask me about Acorn RISC PC 600 machines that can connect to this. I have more than one of these.

TESTING:
I powered it on and it said booting RISC O/S. Opened it and gave visual check. This is the extent of my testing. Selling as is but it came from a working environment.

UPDATE:
I realized there is a monitor, mouse and keyboard connection on the front, so I connected them and it seems to act as a functioning computer (see last photo).

SHIPPING (UPDATE):
It is huge. And with a solid steel case. For shipping I will be bubble wrapping the ends and wrapping the rest in cardboard as it feels pretty indestructible. Motherboard battery will be removed for shipping.

The downside is that it is heavy. I've just sent my first one of these to Europe so I can confirm because of the size and weight (9.8kg), that postage is $159 (not including materials). I am charging $150US. I am not charging for materials or the fact it takes me about an hour to package. This quote is to the US or Europe. (Should be half that if going to Australia).

I am willing to strip the parts from the metal casing and just send those. This would save money on shipping but you would need to supply your own casing. If you want me to do this then I will strip the case and give you a postage estimate AFTER the close of the auction (I assume it would be closer to $90-$100 if I took out all steel parts but I cannot guarantee). It may be less, but I cannot give a quote without actually doing it, and I don't want to do it unless the buyer wants it that way.

If you know of a cheaper way to ship I am happy to attempt it on your behalf but I have looked into to options and NZ post seems the cheapest (Note - Unfortunately eBay does not offer their Global Shipping Program in New Zealand).

NOTE: I have removed the motherboard battery to stop any chance of it corroding the board.
