...is pleased to introduce an Adorable Miniature Wooly Mammoth...

"Snufl"

I'm so excited to introduce Snufl to you! He is a sweet baby wooly mammoth and is definitely a first for me :o)

When standing, Snufl is 4 3/4" tall and 6 3/4” long.

Snufl is a one of a kind (OOAK) artist wooly mammoth completely designed and handsewn (no machine sewing) by me, Melisa Nichols. He is very detailed and as such he is his own unique individual and can not be duplicated ~ a true one of a kind. Many, many hours went into this baby! I am no longer doing special orders and will not be creating another one like him.

Snufl is made from recycled vintage fur. This came from a coat that was sold to me as sheep fur, but since I haven't seen sheep fur with long guard hair before, I'm not really sure. With this fur, this little one is definitely a ball of fluff!

Snufl's adorable face is full of detail. His face has been carefully thread sculpted, scissor sculpted and hand shaded. While I sometimes use epoxy clay in my creations, I just wanted to make a note that I did not use it or polymer clay for any part of him. He has soulful glass eyes (handpainted in brown) and moveable eyelids so he can be posed awake or fast asleep.

Snufl also has an open/close leather mouth and a wired trunk for more poses.

Snufl's tusks are a one of a kind feature as well. They were hand carved out of moose antler by my husband who is a Native American (First Nations) artist. These antlers were found by my family while out hiking and were naturally shed by the moose as they grow new ones each year. I usually do my own carving, but this was a creation my husband was especially interested in so he volunteered to create them for me. His people, the Kaska Dene, have a legend about the mammoth which shows that his ancesters had contact with this magnificent animal. The moose antler gives his baby tusks a look that is very realistic and unique.

Snufl's feet pads are leather and have been thread sculpted and shaded.

Because of all the detailed work involved in creating Snufl, I will never be able to create another wooly mammoth just like him. I do not have a pattern that I can remake him with.

Snufl is completely handsewn and filled with polyfil, pellets (in his tummy), and an extra portion of cuddles. He is armatured – due to the mammoth body shape, he can't be placed in as many positions as a bear, but he can still do lots of fun poses!

Snufl will arrive in a special box with hang tags that include his birth date, a picture of him and a signed Certificate of Authenticity. He is a collectable baby mammoth soft sculpture made for display only - not suitable for children due to small parts.
