The Adventures of Tom Bombadil
by J.R.R. Tolkien
Illustrated by Pauliine Baynes
States First Printing
First American Edition 1963
Hardcover with Dustjacket

From the dustjacket flaps -- In The Fellowship of the Ring Tom Bambadil is described as "Master of wood, water and hill... too large and heavy for a hobbit, if not quite tall enough for one of the Big People, ..." This engaging character was a friend in need to hobbits, rescuing them from the clutches of Old Man Willow and the icy tought of the Barrow-Wight. He lived with the Lady Goldberry in a house under the hill and was a great teller of tales and singer of songs.

Two of the best and most rollicking of Tom's songs are included in this collection, along with verses by Bilbo, Sam Gamgee, and other hobbits.

This book is in Excellent condition. Binding is tight and pages are crisp and clean with No apparent reading wear and no handwriting, tears or folds. Pictorial boards under dustjacket. Boards have a small nick at the bottom of the spine area but otherwise have hardly any wear. The dustjacket has some wear including a tear on the front, top edge. It comes to you from my smoke-free home.
