This is a LOWER PRICE!!! 1921 Old Town 17' Ideal Model Canoe. My Dad, after retiring, took a summer and restored this for something to keep him busy. He and my Mom drove to Old Town Maine and purchased all the parts from the factory there to restore it. The canoe is constructed of wood covered in canvas which is stretched for about 2 weeks then a filler is applied and in the end it is painted. He also purchased Mahogany (which was an option originally) gunwales and the wood sections in the points, which serves as a handle to carry it by. All the work he did was as close to the procedures Old Town used back in 1921. The origional sales/build sheet for this canoe is included, I have included a picture of it. As a restoration goes I would say it is a 7 1/2- 8 out uf 10, it is not perfect but I think it is a beautiful piece of history that someone could display or take it out and enjoy. NO LEAKS!!! The canoe is located in Winter Haven, Florida and pick up would have to be arranged.
