... introduces "Ahanu"

...a Happy Grizzly Bear Cub!

I'm so excited to introduce my newest lifelike Grizzly bear cub named Ahanu! His name is a Native American name that means “he laughs” - I thought it suited him well as he is such a happy and chubby little guy.

Ahanu was so enjoyable to create – he is 10” tall. We had a great photo shoot... he is so fun to pose!  Some of the photos are similar, but have differences like whether the eyes or mouth are open or closed.  I hope you enjoy seeing all the photos!

Ahanu is a one of a kind artist bear cub completely designed and hand sewn (no machine sewing) by me, Melisa Nichols. He is very detailed and as such he is his own unique individual and can not be duplicated ~ a true one of a kind. Many, many hours went into this baby!

Because of all this detailed work, I will never be able to create another baby just like Ahanu. I do not work with patterns - just from photos and drawings, so there is no pattern he can be remade from.

Ahanu is made from gorgeous faux fur. It is so realistic and soft! 

Ahanu's sweet baby face is full of detail. His face has been thread sculpted, scissor sculpted and subtly hand shaded. He has soulful glass eyes that are hand painted in brown. He also has moveable eyelids (top and bottom) so he can be posed awake, sleepy or fast asleep. They can closed completely. I created an adorable and realistic epoxy clay nose for him which I hand painted and sealed – it is shiny on the inside and is less glossy on the outside for more realism.

The inside of his ears are scissor sculpted and hand shaded. I've also given him a hand shaded leather open/close mouth with a thread sculpted tongue and epoxy clay teeth. Because of all this detailed work, I will never be able to create another bear cub just like Ahanu.

Ahanu's leather paws are thread sculpted and hand shaded. His paws have been scissor sculpted and hand shaded. I hand made epoxy clay claws for him which have been shaded and sealed.

Ahanu is completely hand sewn and filled with polyfil, pellets (in his tummy), and an extra portion of cuddles. I have left the area around his neck loosely stuffed to allow for freer head movement. He is fully armatured for lots of fun poses!

Ahanu will arrive in a special box with hang tags that include him birth date, a picture of him and a signed Certificate of Authenticity. He is a collectable baby raven made for display only - not suitable for children due to small parts. Any props in the photos are not included.
