Many years ago I learned that in the 60s Marx had plans to release a Legend of Jesse James playset.  It was to be based on a TV show, but they never actually produced the set. Somehow that 'Set that Almost Was" captured my imagination. A few years ago Nostalgia Toy Boxes produced a facsimile box based on the set. That spurred me to 'produce' an actual set...the set I would have wanted.

The set features a Marx tin litho Jail Side Town building.  It is very clean but is missing two porch poles and the interior's floor piece for the second story. There are also 5 handmade wooden buildings from Alan Roberts 'Buildings of the Old West' Series. Another center piece is the 6 horse reproduction Stage coach. (Almost all the figures are current issue or reproduction pieces or conversions painted to Marx colors)

There are 3 black bandit figures including a cool conversion of the Deetail bandit made into a mounted figure.  There are 10 Lawmen including two Pinkertons from Replicants and a couple of converted Marx guys that look a lot like Walter Brennan and John Wayne. (Use your imagination.) There are 10 powder blue bandits including several P and P Products resin figures.  Please look at the pictures for condition. One Deetail figure is missing the barrel to his pistol. There are 3 Marx figures in brown, two Deetail figures in brown and a brown wagon driver.  There is a hard to find Cohn blacksmith painted red and a P and P saloon girl. There are 3 original Marx gray figures including the guy carrying the sack...but without the sack. There are 9 extra horses,  5 fence pieces, and a bunch of accessories including an Austin Miniatures water trough and hitching post.

The Nostalgia Toy Box Facsimile box is included. It will take two fairly good sized boxes to ship all this.  Shipping will be $40.00. (In the unlikely event it costs less I will issue a refund of the difference.) Lower 48 states only, please.

I've put some more pictures on my website. http://playsetaddict.com/000Jesse%20James%20Playset.html. Click on the first picture of this set.
