After some weeks of development we got approval on designs and moved into production of the film test. This maquette (sculpted by Tom Hester) is based on a Mike Ploog sketch based on our first pass maquettes. Note head shape is same but developed. This is how Visual Development progresses. Small advances that include everyone’s input. Approx. September 1996. 18" tall. This was our 'work' copy. Nice piece.

The other images are screen prints from the only copy of the test I could find right now. A little dark but another glimpse of Shrek history few have ever seen. The story is simple: Shrek enters a gated city at night belting out the song ‘I Feel Good’ and is accosted by a ‘Mugger’ suspended from a rope. Shrek plays with him then grabs him by the neck, stretches him on his rope and springs him into the sky against the moon. If you hold your cursor over the screen prints and move back-and-forth across them you can 'animate' the images. The test was a demo of the animation pipeline. See more context in first listing:
