an Adorable Baby Duckling...

I'm thrilled to introduce Sweet Pea ~ my newest baby duckling and the last one I plan to do until next spring! He is super fluffy & full of personality!

Creating and photographing Sweet Pea was so much fun! He is such a warm bundle of fluff and is so hard to put down! I hope you love him as much as I do!

Sweet Pea is a one of a kind artist baby baby duckling completely designed and hand sewn (no machine sewing) by me, Melisa Nichols. He is very detailed and as such he is his own unique individual and can not be duplicated ~ a true one of a kind. Many, many hours went into this baby! I do not work with patterns or molds - just from photos and drawings, so there is no pattern he can be remade from.

Sweet Pea is made from very soft and luxurious vintage recycled blond mink fur from a vintage stole and I have added hand painted realistic duckling markings. Sweet Pea has been completely lined as are all my recycled fur creations. He is about 4 inches tall.

Sweet Pea's sweet baby face is so detailed. His face has been scissor sculpted and thread sculpted. He has soulful black glass eyes and moveable eyelids - he can be posed awake, sleepy or asleep (his eyelids close as far as shown in the photos). I hand sculpted a one of a kind realistic epoxy clay beak for him which I hand shaded and sealed. Because this detailed work has so many variables, I will never be able to create another baby duckling just like Sweet Pea.

Sweet Pea has realistic feet with individually wired toes and webbed feet – they can be posed in different ways. I've given him epoxy clay talons which I hand sculpted and hand carved to give them extra realism. They've been painted and sealed.  His wings are armatured as well.

Sweet Pea is completely hand sewn and filled with polyfil, pellets (in his tummy), and an extra portion of cuddles. He is armatured for lots of fun poses!

Sweet Pea will arrive in a special box with hang tags that include his birth date, a picture of him and a signed Certificate of Authenticity. He is a collectable baby duck made for display only - not suitable for children due to small parts.

***SHIPPING*** ~ I am delighted to offer Sweet Pea with free surface shipping anywhere in the world. This includes up to $1000 insurance for most countries (Canada Post will not insure to all countries). Free shipping is by surface mail which usually takes 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to US destinations and 6 - 8 weeks to overseas destinations. Please contact me for a quote if you would like to use Xpresspost instead which takes about 3-5 days to US destinations and about 6 days to overseas destinations.


***LAYAWAY *** ~ 1/3 payment within 7 days, 1/3 - 30 days after, and the final third, 30 additional days after that. For auctions over $1000 alternative layaway plans can be arranged. I do not charge a fee for my layaway service. Layaway payments are non-refundable. If you'd like to use this option, please email me before bidding.
