Commodore 65 prototype, aka DX64 or C90

The Commodore 65 is a prototype computer created in 1990-1991 at Commodore Business Machines. The C65 is an improved version of the wildly successful Commodore 64, but adds vastly improved features close to those of the Amiga. Very few of these prototypes were ever produced, with estimates ranging from 50 to 200 machines. The C65 is highly sought and valued collector's items, especially when in fully working order: very few working machines are known to exist.

For more information about the Commodore 65, you can check the Wikipedia article or Bo Zimmerman's C65 page.

The Wikipedia article contains some references to recent bids for C65 units, please note that these machines are extremely rare and that there is only one unit that goes on sale every few years.

This particular unit has serial number 22, is in perfect physical shape (no yellowing of plastic whatsoever) and is fully working, including audio out, disk drive, etc. You can see closeups of the motherboard (revision 2B) and the chips in the pictures attached. I have tested it recently as you can see in the various attached pictures and videos below.

The C65 is sold with a European power supply and the video cable I used to plug in to the 1084S Commodore monitor. It is ready to use!

I will ship this computer anywhere in the world, fully insured, using an express delivery service. The final shipping price may vary depending on the destination country, insurance amount and delivery options. Please contact me if you need an estimate of shipping costs. Alternatively, you can collect this computer in person in Paris, France.

Please note that this is a 25 year old prototype computer and is thus sold as-is with no guarantees and no refunds under any circumstances.

You can see a quick demo of the C65 on YouTube.

Update: I got a couple questions about sound, because I mention "audio" in my description. I am afraid this is a typo on my part, I really meant "video out", e.g. the picture works perfectly. I actually don't know if the SID chips (sound) ever worked on the C65. The two SID chips are present in the computer, however I have never heard it make any sound. Remember, this is a prototype / pre-production computer! Thanks.
