On April 26th 1942 in Japanese occupied China the world's worst colliery disaster took place at Honkeiko Colliery. Further info at http://www.mining-technology.com/features/feature-world-worst-coal-mining-disasters-china/  . Just after the war on 18th April 1946 the British Intelligence Objectives sub committee through the Natural Resources Section and HMSO published a report into the disaster in English. 12 pages, 4 panel pull out diagram (portion only scanned), 4 monochrome. The report's authors whilst writing a technical report clearly appreciated the human tragedy. We will venture to suggest this is a most unusual document to be offered for sale, a second example has surfaced in The Mining Institute collection and this is being auctioned. The start price reflects what we perceive in the rarity and significance of the piece. All monies received go to support the work of The Mining Institute.
