Here is my one owner Complete "N e X T System.

The NeXTcube high-end workstation computer was developed and designed by Steve Job's new company called NeXT, which he started after being ousted from Apple Computer. It featured a cube-shaped magnesium case as a workstation that runs the NeXTSTEP operating system and sold for $10,000.00 without upgrades or accessories.

Unless stated otherwise, all photos are of the actual system you get,
(clicking on them can open a larger view, sometimes with more details).

Everything shown is included and in good to great condition for the age.

Very advanced for its time, the speed is 25MHz with 8MB of RAM.

Below shows the back where the slots are.
As can be seen, Job's cube-like design for the case was ingenious.

It features a backplane that can hold up to 4 specially designed boards.
Slots can hold 2 motherboards plus 2 other powerful system upgrades.

Since it is easy to add or even change out the motherboard, I found this,
a replacement 68040 board
, but recommend finishing the original board,
since that adds more value to the collection than just an upgrade would.
Rather than upgrades, real collector value is original stock & low serial #s.
But if you like idea of upgrading it, then I have a link below to an upgrade.

Since more boards can be added, it can easily accept upgrades like the
Intel i860 processor on a NeXTdimension board, which can do video
sampling and 32-bit PostScript color and can be found now on eBay.

NOTE: I have no relation to that seller, but check the $1,300+ price tag!
I am linking it because I read it will work in my cube if you want that upgrade.

With the back opened, click below to see inside details from top to bottom,
SCSI drive top, Optical drive center and a power supply on the bottom.

Below is my system motherboard. Click it for a larger detailed picture.
I'm told the memory can be upgraded, (although I never did that), but
you can see there are 8 more open memory slots to allow for upgrading.

Below is the back view of the included pre-installed motherboard, which
shows no signs of damage or even age, but I need to mention a boot error.

This unit has sat in climate controlled dry but cool storage, (never frozen),
and has not seen use in years. It fully worked when last put away, but when
I got it out and started it up this week, it starts with the message below...

What does that error message mean?
It can get into the ROM of the system menu, but how to proceed next?
The message details that appear at startup are shown below...

Forums say checking the RAM chips shown in the test can help. So I bought
online RAM, of 4x4MB = 16MB and will ship it to you when I get it. I have
learned that unknown and "rare territory" computers can best be fixed by the
technician who is also a knowledgeable collector or investor, plus it always
makes buyers very happy when I sell rare items at a lower than normal price,
because buyers who know what to do can save and get a great deal! Since
I do not know what else to do, it is up to you to finish setting up the OS.
after you get the RAM I'll send you, (unless you have your own RAM now).
I found the RAM here, had a friend buy it, so it should be here soon.

I did know to check the 300MB SCSI drive, using a long SCSI cable
connected to a same era Macintosh that is running OS 7 and the drive
appears OK in the SCSI utility, but since OS 7 does not support the
NeXT OS, and the only option shown is "Erase Drive". I decided to leave
the working NeXTSTEP OS alone and post this ad. After you, the buyer,
has addressed the message issues and you get into the NeXTSTEP OS,
then you can enter the NeXTSTEP OS user ID of "me" and the password
is "cosey". I hope it helps you to know that the SCSI drive is OK, since it
can be embarrassing when all I really knew what to do next was post this ad
and sell it to someone who is smarter than me!

Anyway, a technical/collector is sure to love my lower
than normal price on my complete "N e X T System!
But wait you say, how do I know the lowest price?
I use eBay searches and another source I'll show you!
