Large Antique French Gilt Brass Clock by Japy Freres

A stunning, tall and majestic original antique French Rococo clock. Beautiful Louis XV waisted shape with "C" scrolls, shells and floral swags. The front of the clock is fretted to lighten the design and also to allow the pendulum to be glimpsed swinging within the case. The clock is of very good quality with crisp, sharp and finely detailed modelling and the gilding has a lovely clean and bright finish.

The dial is enamel on copper with a beautifully fretted, gilt brass centre and original blued steel hands.

The French movement is by Japy Freres and is the maker's usual high quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. A stunning clock to add to your collection.
