Samuel Johnson (18 September 1709 – 13 December 1784), often referred to as Dr Johnson, was an English writer who made lasting contributions to English literature as a poet, essayist, moralist, literary critic, biographer, editor and lexicographer. Johnson was a devout Anglican and committed Tory, and has been described as "arguably the most distinguished man of letters in English history".
CONDITION
In a quarter morocco binding with green cloth covered boards. Externally, sound with slight rubbing, and a few marks to boards. The spine is rather worn, with some loss and closed tears. The hinges are strained. Internally, generally firmly bound with bright, clean pages; only scattered spotting, particularly to the endpapers, and a few handling marks. With an ink copperplate inscription, of the editor, to the front endpaper. Overall: GOOD ONLY
