You're bidding on an original piece of origami art, created and donated by the artist, Joseph Wu, for this auction.

Wu's work spans the range of origami art, from representational to abstract, one-sheet and modular, and always with that unmistakable Wu style.  His love of fantasy gaming peeks through with creatures like one, a menacing "Owlbear" from Dungeons & Dragons.  The piece is 6.5 inches (about 16 cm) tall, and is made from Zanders elefantenhaut (elephant hide) hand-tinted with acrylic ink.  About the piece, he writes:

"This is a re-imagining of one of the iconic Dungeons & Dragons monsters, the owlbear. Part owl, part bear, and fully malicious, it has challenged gamers for generations."

The artist is also graciously donating free (economy) shipping on this item, worldwide.

We accept PayPal payments for the successful bid; we regret that we cannot accept any other payment methods at this time. Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of these works, and the volunteer nature of the project, we also regret that we cannot accept returns.

About these auctions and Origami Caravan:

One hundred percent of the proceeds of this auction will go to Origami Caravan, a volunteer project supporting Japanese children affected by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. (Read more about the project here.)

From 25 Oct - 11 Nov 2011 (World Origami Days) we'll be auctioning original origami artwork, donated by the artists themselves, to support the project.

We're starting auctions for new items each day, and will announce and link to each auction on the Origami Caravan auction project website as each one goes live. You can subscribe to the site RSS feed to get notices of each new auction.

Thanks for your support!
