About  This Piece:

I am happy to present to you my 5th new design for 2013, entitled "Over The Rainbow". This wonderfully colorful egg features rich, ruby red flowers and tender Spring green vines. The three circular medallions are bordered by shining stars and more little ruby red flowers.

The jewel-like tones of the shading were inspired by one of my favourite egg artists, Mark Malachowski. I am sure many of you are familiar with him. I have been a fan and friend of his for several years now and have always admired his uniquely beautiful eggs.

Please note:I am starting this egg at $0.99 because my last auction was so much fun and also because I was a little overzealous with the etching on this egg. You many notice that some of the white outlines are very thin or even may be missing in areas. This is most noticeable in photos where the egg is enlarged, but it is not so noticeable in person. Despite this flaw, this is still a gorgeous egg! I will let you bidders decide!

This beautiful batik egg was lovingly created in the traditional method of Pysanky, using a batik wax and dye process on a real blown turkey egg. Sealed with a coat of archival, industrial grade UV resistant, crystal clear finish, it's finished size measures approximately 3 1/4" tall.

The process begins by meticulously drawing out the design in pencil before it goes through a process of waxing and dyeing. Etching technique is used to create the raised borders and create a subtle three dimensional effect. As with all my eggs, yours will come with a FREE lacquered, dark wooden stand and digital COA (Certificate of Authenticity) that allows you to register your piece in an online art database.

Pysanky Batik Egg Artist So Jeo LeBlond

Pysanky or Ukrainian Easter Eggs are an ancient folk art from Ukraine. They are created on real eggshells by alternating the application of hot beeswax applied with a stylus or writing pen called a kistka and dipping in dyes of progressively darker shades. The traditional symbols and colours each have different meanings. The last step is to remove the wax with a candle flame to reveal the beautiful design hidden beneath.

I pride myself on my original designs which come from my own life experiences and imagination. I find that nature is one of my greatest inspirations and you will often see flowers, birds and other beautiful elements that are found right from my own backyard. I hope that when looking at my eggs you will feel the intensity of the passion and dedication that I put into my work.

My eggs have been sold to private galleries and collections in Canada, the US and Australia. I have had photos of my eggs published in “A Showcase of Decorated Eggs” as well as a self-published photo album of some of my earlier works.  I most recently had one of my eggs published in the April 2012 edition of Weranda, one of the biggest home and design magazines in Poland.
