What is the difference between Bluetooth Receiver and Transmitter?

Bluetooth Transmitter can be plugged into your AUDIO GENERATING devices, such as MP3 player, CD player, TV, Kindle Fire, iPod and computers. Since these devices do not have Bluetooth function, audio signal transmitted through the 3.5 mm connection will be broadcast by the Bluetooth Transmitter. 
Bluetooth Receiver (like this) connects to your headphones or stereo speakers and makes them Bluetooth enabled. Receivers "listen" to Bluetooth audio broadcast signals and convert it into 3.5 mm audio signal for your headphone and speakers.
