Artist Description: "The late afternoon sun bathes two monster mulies in golden light as they lie bedded down in a secluded patch of Quakies. A minute later they'll both get up and browse out of sight into one of their favorite canyons, just as they have done over a thousand times before. And then finally the sun will set one more time on the backside of No-Tellum Ridge."

"Backside of No-Tellum Ridge, an original oil by Leon Parson, was reproduced by Leon Parson's Caribou Mountain Studios under the personal supervision of the artist, on the 28th of September 1989. Sun Lithographing Company of Salt Lake City was the printer. The entire edition was printed on acid-free 100% archival paper using color fast permanent inks. 750 prints were signed and numbered by the artist; 75 were signed and numbered as Artist Proofs. At the conclusion of printing, the plates were destroyed and no additional prints will be made."

Print Definitions:

LIMITED EDITION PRINT: comprises a fixed number of impressions produced on the understanding that no further impressions (copies) will be produced later and the plate will be destroyed.

NUMBERING:Most contemporary artists produce only limited editions, normally signed by the artist in pencil, and numbered as, for example, 42/100 to show the unique number of that impression (the first number) out of the total edition size (the second number). Because of the slight variation in quality over the course of printing, lower-numbered prints in an edition are sometimes favored as superior, especially with older works where the image was struck until the plate wore out.

ARTIST’S PROOF: The conventions for numbering prints are well-established, but other marks may indicate that a print has been made in addition to the numbered prints of an edition. Artist's proofs are marked "A.P." or "P/A" and is usually an indication that the artist kept the first few impressions for his/herself as tests to make sure the print meets their expectations for quality.
