Description
Nice cluster of tiny MARCASITE (FeS2) crystals on gold bearing quartz from the only operating gold mine in central Europe - Rozalia Mine in Hodrusa-Hamre, Slovakia. The specimen measures approx. 7 x 3.5 x 1.7 cm and weights 72.4 grams.
Gold ore are thin low sulphidation epithermal quartz veins of Neogene age (11-16 mil. years) hosted in andesite or quartz-diorite porphyry, very rich on gold (assays are typically >100g/t Au and >100 g/t Ag, sometimes even 1000 g/t Au).
