This is a small collection of 8 books [7 titles as one title is in two volumes] which were purchased at Bonhams Auctioneers in 2002. Each one has the Bonhams slip inserted.

COMPRISING THE FOLLOWING

1. Les Juifs d'Espagnes par le Docteur H. Graetz. Paris, 1872. Bound in contemporary calf. Signed in pencil on the end paper, with an additional note "purchased at [unreadable...], prob. in 1920s"

2. Altschwedische Grammatik Mit Einschluss des Altgutnischen von Adolf Norees. Halle, 1904. Original cloth. Signed in ink on the end paper.

3. Scandinavian Archaeology by Haakon Shetelig and Hjalmas Falk; translated by E.V. Gordon. Oxford, 1937. With a typed note "with the compliments of Professor E.V. Gordon." Gordon was a contemporary and friend of Tolkien. Signed in pencil on the end paper with the additional note in Tolkien's hand "from EVG."

4. Diplomatarium Islandicum. Islenzkt Bornbrefasafn... Volume One 834 - 1264. Kaupmannohofn, 1857 - 76. Bound in contemporary half calf. With the bookplate of the historian Charles Plummer who died in 1927, Tolkien's note reads "bt from..." and "by J.R.R. Tolkien" in ink. Loosely inserted are a couple of scraps of paper with notes by Tolkien.

5. Heidreks Saga. Kobenhavm, 1924. Bound in cloth. Signed in pencil on the end paper.

6. Havardar Saga Isfirdings. Kobenhavn, 1923. Signed by Tolkien in pencil on the end paper.

7. Den Oldnorske og Oldislandske Litteraturs Historie af Finnur Jonsson. Kobenhavn, 1920 - 3. three volumes bound in two in contemporary calf. Each volume is signed twice; once on the front pastedown and once on the verso of the front free end paper.
