This is a fully finished, custom built, scale model of the proposed Convair Atlas Project Outpost Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) four man space station designed by Krafft Ehricke in 1958.  The model is approximately 11" in length and comes with a clear plastic display case.  Built primarily from styrene plastic, other materials used in the construction of this model include photoetched brass, steel rod, copper wire, and a metal spring.  Items salvaged from old Hawk Manned Orbiting Laboratory kits were used in the construction.  The model is finished with various enamel paints and decals and protected with a clear flat sealer.  The model is securely mounted with a threaded bolt with a nut cemented inside of the main body.  The bolt can be easily removed and the model detached from the display stand if desired.  The extended L-Band type antenna and EVA Astronaut umbilical are not permanently attached and can be removed.  The lifeboats are lightly cemented, but can probably be removed if desired.  The radiator screen is permanently attached.  The clear plastic display case is really intended to protect the model from dust and damage, the model is best viewed with the cover removed.
