For sale is my 1969 Stevens flat-bottom V-drive.  This is a turn-key 17’ ski boat which is very sound mechanically and has been garage kept.  I’ve owned this boat since 2007 and have focused my attention on creating a fun, reliable ski boat.  It does have aesthetic flaws which I will describe below.  Here is a detailed list of features:

Engine:

·        Standard 350 Chevrolet (GM 3970010 block) with a mild cam and cast iron heads -  runs excellent, idles perfect, and enjoys 87 octane

·        MSD Pro-Billet Marine distributor (P/N 83606) with curve kit, Blaster SS coil, Taylor 8mm wires

·        Holley 650 double-pumper carburetor (P/N 81053)

·        Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake manifold (P/N 2101)

·        Glenwood water-cooled aluminum exhaust logs

·        Stainless exhaust silencers with thru-hull trumpets

·        Glenwood engine plate

·        Chrome 1-wire alternator

Other Mechanical Systems:

·        Halibrand 12 degree V-Drive, gears unknown, bronze 3-blade prop, neutral and forward only (no reverse)

·        Adjustable cavitation plate with Finishline 9-position locking handle

·        Dual custom aluminum side-saddle fuel tanks with baffles, professionally fabricated and TIG welded; each hold approximately 13 gallons

·        Autometer Phantom tachometer (8000 RPM) and a combination of Autometer and Stewart Warner white face gauges (water temp, oil pressure, and volts which is not hooked up)

·        New wiring with proper color, gauge, and all connectors properly crimped and insulated using shrink tubing

·        No water pump, just force fed from bottom-hull pick-up (cools great provided you're not in a "no wake" zone)

·        Bilge pump included but not wired

·        Large foot pedal with Morse throttle cable

·        Original single-axle trailer with shortened tongue, new wiring, plastic fenders, bearing buddies, and a tongue jack; tows great and the only issues are a bent prop/rudder guard, a missing passenger marker light (I have a replacement), and the trailer could use new paint

·        Trailer has original 14x7” American Racing Torq Thrust wheels purchased new in the 1960’s – wheels show their age and could use a good detailing

·        Wheels have Yokohama van tires in good condition (replaced a couple seasons ago and always stored inside)

·        Trailer has original black California license plate

Hull, Interior, and Misc. Features:

·        Paint Needs Work – looks good from 20’ but there are many blemishes, chips, and orange peel due to never being color sanded (previous owner painted the boat himself).  There are a few small holes on the inner rail from previous accessories like emblems, bimini top, etc.

·        Hull is overall solid and water-tight

·        Several holes have been filled on the transom (rear) of the boat where pad mounts for a fixed plate used to exist.  The paint on the transom is especially rough compared to the rest of the boat.  There are also a few paint scrapes on the bottom-side of the hull.

·        Abrasion damage to the passenger side of hull which was repaired using fiberglass but needs final sanding and paint.  This was caused by a tire rubbing against the hull before fenders were installed (not an impact).  The abrasion penetrated the gel coat but barely touched the glass.

·        Previous stereo hole was filled but also needs final sanding and paint

·        Floors appear to be solid (no apparent dry rot or soft spots) – previous owner did paint the floors/stringers, and I’ve removed 80% of the paint by sanding

·        Stringers are mostly solid, with some minor de-lamination in the rear, some excess white paint, and some extra holes (I believe the boat had a big block at one time) – there is no apparent dry-rot in the stringers

·        The cavitation plate was covered with grip tape when I purchased the boat; I removed the grip tape and the plate is pitted and will require re-finishing to be aesthetically pleasing

·        The bench seat is in fair condition, but the upholstery does have some minor stains and the quality of workmanship is marginal.  Also, the seat is not firmly secured and should more robustly attached to the stringer brackets.

Again, despite the aesthetic issues, this boat is mechanically solid and lots of fun.  It's ready to go with registration paid through 2015 and a clean California title in hand.  It is currently located in Twain Harte, CA.  I’ve tried to be as forthright and thorough as possible in my description, but please let me know if you have any questions prior to bidding.

Note:  The buyer is responsible for pick-up in Twain Harte, CA, or for arranging shipping.  This must be done within 14 days of auction close.  I've read that Interstate Haulers is a reputable and reliable boat hauling company (I have no affiliation).  They can be contacted at (910) 295-2244 for a quote.  The buyer will also be responsible for a $200 deposit using Paypal within 48 hours of auction close.  This boat is being sold as-is with no warranty.  I'm also advertising the boat locally and reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  Thanks for looking!  -Jeff

Attached is a link to a short video of my boat.  Note this is prior to installing the adjustable cavitation plate which now prevents the boat from "porpoising" at speed:
