A Victorian rectangular Honiton black bobbin lace applique, shawl or veil, on machine made net. The shawl has three floral bouquets, at each end with tally centres to the flowers. The leaves have raised detail and there are more floral sprigs scattered over the main part of the shawl. It is edged with ovals filled with more tallies and leaf sprigs. The shawl is 110" (280cm) x 23" (58.5cm) and is in very good vintage condition. It's original owner must have been very careful to mend even the smallest break and so there are virtually no tiny holes, but there are a scattering of tiny mends, which I have tried to show in the photographs. I am happy to post abroad and always combine postage where ever possible.
