NOT-CHI-MI-NE.
AN IOWAY CHIEF
No. 91   RICE, RUTTER & CO, Publishers

This is a vibrant example of the portrait of Chief NOTCHIMINE in his traditional costume and headdress.  He has a red cape over one shoulder, and is holding a peace pipe with his official medal displayed.  Their is some age related toning but the image remains beautiful.  The biography of Chief NOTCHIMINE will be included in this transaction.

Page measures:  7" wide x 10-1/2" tall

Hand colored lithograph color plates were by Henry Inman based on paintings by Charles Bird King, James Otto Lewis, and Peter Rindisbacher.  Most of the original paintings were destroyed in a fire and the Henry Inman lithographs preserve the images.
