This image from Vol. II of the 1872 Octavo edition will also include the biography pages from the text.  AHYOUWAIGHS, also known as John Brant, became chief of the Mohawk Nation, chief of the Iroquois or Six Nations.  He is portrayed in a stunning golden colored jacket with a bright waist band and hair adorned with red and white plumage and is a particularly nice image.   Please refer to photos for condition as their is some staining in the upper right corner above the actual image as well as a spot near the lower edge of the page. 

Hand colored lithograph color plates were by Henry Inman based on paintings by Charles Bird King, James Otto Lewis, and Peter Rindisbacher.  Most of the original paintings were destroyed in a fire and the Henry Inman lithographs preserve the images.
