Computer Systems Associates, Inc. (CSA) Mega-Midget Racer Accelerator
for the Amiga 500/500+/1000/2000/2500

Thank you for looking at this auction. Here's a great piece of Amiga hardware that will undoubtedly increase the heart rate of any true Amiga collector. It's the CSA Mega Midget Racer accelerator, including a fully populated CSA Mega-memory daughterboard with 8MB of 32-bit Fast RAM memory still inside its original packaging! Ever dreamed of upgrading your Amiga from the standard 68000 CPU to something a little faster? Dream no more!!

  • Includes a 68030/33 MHz CPU clocked at 36 MHz with added heat sink!
  • Motorola MC68882/50MHz FPU Asynchronously clocked with it's own 50MHz Oscillator.
  • 512KB Static Ram onboard the Accelerator that allows you to remap the Amiga ROM Kernel for faster access by the CPU without using the CPU's MMU, leaving it available for more important functions like virtual RAM with the proper software like GigaMem, *or* it can be added to the total system RAM if you choose.  It is the four large DIP chips that are held firmly in their sockets by the small cable ties in the photos, a trick employed by the previous owner of this board to prevent chip creep.  (Webopedia defines Chip Creep as: Mainly referenced to older computer systems. Chip creep refers to the problem of chips that, over time, would work their way out of the socket. Chip creep occurred due to thermal expansion; the contracting and expanding during system heat up and cool down. While chip creep was most common with older memory modules it was a problem with other main chips that were inserted into sockets. To fix chip creep, users of older systems would often have to remove the case cover and push the loose chip back into the socket. Today's systems are not affected so much by chip creep since chips are mainly soldered into place or are more securely held by various types of retainer clips.)
  • Both Software and Externally Switchable to 68000 Mode for compatibility with older programs and games, just install YOUR 68000 CPU (not included) in the socket, remove the "ESYNC" Jumper W4, run wires from the "MODE" Jumper W2 to a hardware switch (NOT included but easily acquired at Radio Shack or a similar store) and ONLY switch between processors when you are powered down.
  • Factory Install Floppy Disk
  • Photocopied Manual as received from CSA. This manual has highlighting and notes as you would expect from any Technician's hardware manual.
  • Original box, in well-worn condition.
  • Photos shown are of actual item being auctioned.
I've used this board for two years until I upgraded to a Viper 530 a couple of years ago (no, I'm not selling that! ;-) Since then this CSA Mega Midget Racer has been safely stored away in its original packaging and I've now decided to let it go. I plugged it into a spare A500 I have lying around and ran the tests from the included CSA disks. The board is still in A#1 condition. Here's your chance to add this to your own collection!!!

Will ship anywhere internationally except for China and Africa. Only registered shipping for this baby!! Contact me for exact shipping costs if your country is not listed. PayPal only. Dutch buyers are also allowed to use bank transfer. Thanks for looking and hope you bag this one!
