R2-D2 brings communication of the future to your home!
Gone are the dark days of communication without seeing "the other side". R2-D2 will provide you Skype communication with a wireless webcam. What if you are not at home and want to see what evil is brewing in your living room? Regardless of where you are in the world it's possible to connect to your R2 at home through the internet and move him about!
Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber functions as a remote control for R2-D2 and doubles as a skype phone. Just rotate the handle and a dial / control pad will be visible. All of Artoo's functions can be controlled wirelessly, regardless of where you are in the world! Make the connection and you can move Artoo around. The lightsaber also controls Artoo's sound effects.
R2-D2 is motorised, and all the controls to move him are located on the lightsaber, or can be found in the bundled software. Artoo moves forward, reverses, turns from side-to-side and can alter the webcam's viewing angle. Under each of Artoo's three 'feet' are surface sensors watching out for a difference in level or surface endings. When the sensors are triggered, Artoo will stop and play an alarm sound.
Three integrated lightsaber sounds are included - "Activate", "Idle hum" and (when moved) "Hit". The tip lights up in blue and red.
Lightsaber Stand:
The stand is not just a stand - there's more to it than meets the eye. It has USB connections and takes care of the wireless link between Artoo and the computer, which is necessary to use the webcam function or control Artoo. When the stand is conncected to a PC, the Star Wars logo will light up.
Software:
Included with the R2-D2 Wireless Webcam is a PC program that makes it possible to control Artoo's movements and view the webcam foottage within that program. Other options include recording photos and videos from Artoo's camera, and graphic overlays from an X-Wing or the Millenium Falcon cockpit for your PC desktop.
