Thermodex is PNI’s introductory fat-burner, and it has been carefully engineered using the most advanced and potent ingredients possible. Much more than just another “AMP” clone, we’ve created an entirely new type of fat-burning product, as we designed it to reflect our belief that:

  • A ‘fat-loss’ product should preferentially burn fat, while helping you hold on to your hard-earned muscle.
  • Stimulation is desirable, but over stimulation can be detrimental due to rebound effects & muscle catabolism.
  • For a fat-loss product to be extraordinarily effective, every lipolytic pathway needs to be targeted.

In keeping with principle #3, Thermodex selectively targets fat cells and destroys them without mercy, using every weapon at science’s disposal: It elevates UCP expression in white adipose tissue, directly hits alpha and beta adrenoreceptors, induces catecholamine release, activates thermogenesis-inducing vanilloid receptors, blocks PPAR-gamma, shifts the body’s preferential energy source from glycogen to free fatty acids, and inhibits cAMP breakdown. To get into the details of how it manages to do all this, we’ll need to speak about the ingredients.

Fucoxanthin is a non-provitamin A carotenoid present in edible seaweed. Like many carotenoids, it is a potent antioxidant (ref); it is also a tremendous, yet much-neglected, ingredient for fat-loss. In mice, it has been shown to increase UCP-1 (uncoupling protein 1) protein expression in white adipose tissue by five-fold, and UCP-1 mRNA expression by an average of twelvefold (ref). No other legal ingredient even comes close. What’s more, fucoxanthin potently suppresses the function of PPAR-gamma, a fatty-acid-activated nuclear hormone receptor which kickstarts adipocyte differentiation and plays a pivotal role in lipogenesis. (ref) A study in human subjects has shown that fucoxanthin is more bioavailable in humans than it is in mice (ref) — and, in another human study geared towards examining the ingredient’s fat-loss properties, 8 milligrams per day of fucoxanthin had an almost-unbelievably potent effect. (ref) Thermodex contains a big dose of fucoxanthin at over 16 milligrams per day. This will ensure that the UCP furnace is burning, and that PPAR-gamma doesn’t get an opportunity to put the brakes on your fat-loss endeavors.

Capsaicin, like fucoxanthin, is also an inducer of uncoupling proteins and an inhibitor of PPAR-gamma. (refref) As an uncoupler, it’s appears to be weaker than fucoxanthin, but it has a multitude of other biological effects. As a strong TRPV1 agonist, it directly initiates thermogenesis; it promotes adrenal NE secretion (ref); it reduces food intake in humans (refref); it is a PPAR-alpha agonist & increases insulin sensitivity (ref); most interestingly, oral administration of capsaicin potently increases IGF-1 serum levels in humans.(ref)

These effects might be very long-lived: Capsaicin-treated rats had increased insulin sensitivity and a tendency to leanness a full year after treatment ceased! (ref)

Bitter orange extract contains phenethylamine alkaloids such as hordenine, synephrine, octopamine, methylsynephrine, tyramine, and N-methyl-tyramine. These compounds can release norepinephrine (ref), inhibit its reuptake (ref), activate alpha/beta receptors (refref), and activate TAAR1 (ref). These amines don’t need much introduction, as they’re in just about every commercial ‘fat-loss’ product out there. None of them can hold a candle to their ancestor ephedrine, and they fall a little bit short as standalone fat-loss agents… but they can impart mental focus, energy, and even mild euphoria. For reasons of alpha/beta adrenoceptor stimulation, they also work extremely well with the other lipolytic and thermogenic ingredients in Thermodex. We use only the highest quality bitter orange extracts, standardized to 90% phenethylamine alkaolids.

Orchidlean™ is a proprietary extract from orchids in the cymbidium andophrys genera. The centerpiece of this blend is a highly-purified fraction fromcymbidium goeringii, the “noble orchid”, which has extremely potent vasodilator and diuretic properties. (ref) As a vasodilator, it ensures that the heat generated from those thermogenic stimulants and uncouplers can efficiently leave the body – so you won’t experience any serious thermogenesis-related discomfort. As an unmatched diuretic, far above comparison to cheap and ineffective dandelion root extracts, it’ll make sure that subcutaneous water doesn’t obscure your new definition. This particular orchid extract has been used for thousands of years in China and the Himalayas as a diuretic and vasodilator, and feedback from our testers has been unanimously positive. This ‘auxillary’ ingredient (in the sense that it doesn’t directly promote fat-loss) makes a world of difference, and elevates Thermodex to new heights of effectiveness.

Methylxanthines (caffeine, theophylline, and theobromine) are adenosine-antagonists which reduce fatigue and inhibit the PDE-mediated breakdown of cAMP. In doing so, these methylxanthines increase metabolic rate (ref), stimulate lipolysis via cAMP accumulation (ref), increase endurance via shifting energy utilization from glycogen to fatty acids (ref), and they synergistically potentiate the effects of stimulants with different mechanisms of action (ref). So they do more than just stimulate, they help the other ingredients work better. The methylxanthine ratio in Thermodex was carefully designed to provide smooth and prolonged energy, with an engineered blend of fast-acting caffeine, hard-hitting theophylline, and long-lasting theobromine. It’ll help get you through the day, and it’ll optimize the other ingredients as they melt away your body-fat.

Yohimbine HCL is included in this formula as a highly potent and selective alpha2-receptor antagonist. The alpha2 adrenergic receptors are inhibitors of lipolysis (ref), in other words, they tell your body to hold on to fat. What’s more, endogenous and synthetic phenethylamines activate these receptors as part of a negative-feedback system, so having increased levels of norepinephrine isn’t always a good thing. Yohimbine short-circuits this negative-feedback system — it prevents alpha2 receptor activation, and will enhance lipolysis — especially in “trouble areas” of stubborn fat, as these areas tend to have the highest concentration of alpha-2 receptors. There is an added benefit: Blocking alpha receptors fools your body into thinking that it needs to ramp-up norepinephrine release, which results in a stimulant effect.

Yohimbine has been extensively tested in animals and human athletes (ref), and has been a mainstay of the supplement industry since the late 90′s. It simply works, and its mechanism of action cannot be replicated by other compounds.

As a uniquely thermogenic fat-loss product, Thermodex shines where its unbalanced and stim-overloaded counterparts fall flat.

To summarize, it is:

  • The strongest mitochondrial uncoupler and lipolytic agent on the market today.
  • A potent & long-lasting stimulant.
  • An effective vasodilator & diuretic.
