I'm selling my 1966 Mosrite Ventures Mark II. I absolutely love this guitar and hate to let it go but I need the money for other things so it's time to find it a new home.

This is the real thing, made in 1966 in Bakersfield, California, USA. The serial number is B649.

It has a great real relic look with the paint worn through to the wood on the top edge from player wear, plus paint checking, heaps of superficial scratches and a bit of buckle wear on the back. There is also some wear on the back of the neck near the headstock from cappo use and general playing and that area has had some very, very light sanding - it's smooth and there is no paint gouging or wood damage though. It all ads to the character of this little guitar and it's age and authenticity and I've tried to carefully document it all in the photos.

Apart from the obvious cosmetic wear, it's structurally in excellent condition. The neck is straight and there is still plenty of life left in the frets. It's missing the tremolo arm but the spring is still in the trem unit. The original tone and volume knobs are also missing and it has simple metal spun knobs as replacements which look the part. Replacement Mosrite Moseley trem arms are easy to buy online (they sell on ebay) and I see original Mosrite knobs come up for sale often too so if you wanted to source these parts then it's not hard.

When I bought this, the electrics / wiring were pretty messed up and I had it professionally serviced and fixed and the wiring is perfect now.

Most importantly, this guitar sounds absolutely amazing. I've owned a lot of guitars over the years and this is easily one of my favorite sounding guitars. These original Mosrite pick-ups are superb.

This particular Mosrite model was made most famous by Kurt Cobain who owned one almost exactly like this (same sunburst colour). Kurt's guitar was made by Mosrite but branded Gospel on the headstock and was one of only a few of this model made with the Gospel name. It's a story that I won't go into now but do your research if interested. I've read that it was one of his favorite guitars.

This guitar also comes with a non original hard case.

This model is quite rare and they don't come up for sale very often (particularly here in Australia).

Grab yourself a brilliant guitar and collectors item at a great price - these usually sell for well over $2000 but I'm pricing mine for a quick sale.

Thanks for looking and let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
