This is Isco Gottingen Iscorama 50mm F2.8 Anamorphic Lens – Rare pre- 36 , M42 version Made in Germany This lens is one of the earliest Iscoramas (and most highly sought after), so it doesn't have a model number and does have a serial number (4136558). The non-multi-coated version of the first Iscoramas, make them a better choice than the later Iscos when you want to force some flares. The lens itself focuses from about 6 feet to infinity. Close focus can be achieved through use of diopters. The aperture range is f/2.8-f/16. The front threads are 72mm, same as most Canon L primes. I’m told that this family of Iscorama lens (long out of production) are the only anamorphic lens designed to cover FF35/Vistavision without vignetting. The 1968 Iscorama was available in Exacta, Minolta SR, Nikon F, and Praktica/Pentax M42 mounts and was the only Iscorama model to always feature an individual serial number on the front lock ring. None of the first Iscoramas were multicoated. The anamorphic design of the Iscorama was the template for later Iscorama adapters that all shared its 1.5x horizontal stretch ratio, patented focusing mechanism, and adjustable anamorphic alignment capability. The ISCO anamorphic focusing mechanism was unique in that the taking lens was simply set to infinity and then focus was adjusted using the anamorphic adapter alone. This was a major advance on competing manufacturers’ designs, in that all required that focus was calibrated simultaneously on both the taking lens and the adapter. These original Iscoramas are still amongst the most sought after of all Iscoramas due to their flexibility. The assembled monobloc is an excellent 50mm lens for full frame DSLRs, and the adapter can be used with a large number of taking lenses on APS-C and Micro Four cameras without excessive vignetting occurring. Native mount to camera – M42 (Praktica / Pentax screw mount). It does not have lens caps and comes in a Tamron Case to which it fits perfectly and snug. Has very little use and the glass, outer body and mount has no visible signs of use or cosmetic defects, and focus ring operates as intended and overall in excellent condition.
