Offered here is an original c.1899 cased vellum 'Letters Patent' warrant from the Scottish Lord Lyon King of Arms (Sir James Balfour Paul GCVO GCStJ FSAS who held the office from 1890 to 1926) granting arms to Alexander Lawson of Annfield and Burnturk, Fife, Scotland. The document has a hand painted armorial bearing the motto 'Te Splendente' and has a cased wax seal of the Lord Lyon attached. It measures 23 5/8" (60cms) x 17 3/4" (44cms) and is in excellent condition as per the photos below. The red morocco covered box, with 'VR' royal cypher, measures 19 3/4" (50cms) x 4" (10cms) x 3 3/4" (9.5cms) and is also in nice condition with some expected, age related, scuffing to the outside.
