Tripod mount ring for Novoflex Pistol Grip A

The Novoflex modular trigger follow focus (PIGRIFF) system was a top pro long lens in its day, with a price tag to match. Now they are one of the bargain buys for performance and vintage lens interest to use on your DSLR. But one of the bugbears of the design is there is no ideal way to use it with a tripod - there is a 3/8"ths bush at the base of the trigger handle but that's an inherently out of balance and unstable attachment point.
So I have set about remedying this with a customised solid alloy mount ring. This goes on the PIGRIFF just in front of the trigger, pretty much at the balance* point. It's hinged so it's easy to put on and take off; 2 x 1/4" thread positions in the base for your release plate; lined with felt, finished with a wee spray of gloss black metal paint. Internal diameter after customising is approx 60mm. It doesn't interfere with the movement of the focus and provides a solid mounting point.
Note that this is specifically designed for/off the 1st gen PIGRIFF "A". The PIGRIFF "B" often has a tripod collar next to the aperture ring, however this is very out of balance with a 400mm optic so there is still good advantage to this set up. This item will NOT fit later 2-grip PIGRIFF "C" or "D".
Selling with a "bean bag" camera/lens support so you're all set. This is a similar size to a commercial one, has an ideal lightweight plastic granules filling and is double stitched all round. Just plain, no attachment points. Side zip to access filling.
Pics show: ring + bean bag; ring; ring + lens on tripod; on monopod; using the bean bag on a car door.

£16.95 BIN.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a Novoflex equivalent currently available, or even s/h, and if there is it will certainly cost something like seventy quid!

*With a 400mm optic.
DISCLAIMER; I am not an engineer with a workshop. Pics show the typical item finish. Size and fitting guaranteed - I test every one. You can of course make your own from a similar 65/66mm tripod mount ring. I used a 17mm HSS bit to make the hole. Offered for those of you who don't have the tools and means to hand.
If you are using the longer 600mm/640mm optics then a long plate is needed to achieve balance. Cheap arca type plates are available off ebay, or I can do a custom one something like this - msg me to discuss design and dimensions.

Replacement mount? While I had the early version novoflex I was experimenting with making a PK mount for it - see forum thread here. If you would like to pursue a replacement mount for your novoflex-A feel free to msg me.

post: £2.99 second.

TRACKING: a tracking number will be noted with the item in your puchases list.
  • COMBINED POST: I am always happy to combine postage. I use couriers (CollectPlus, Hermes, UPS), being more economical, for all items bigger/heavier than Post Office small parcel limits (ie 1kg), and the local drop offs are convenient. However I am happy to use alternative couriers on request. Extra items will not add to post cost up to the weight limit, if over the limits charged at cost plus 15%. Heavier than that: I recommend Collect Plus (or UPS) shop to shop service (up to 10kg).
NOTE: ebay is now taxing us on post (from 10/13). I make a point of trying to keep post charges to a minimum through shrewd (recycled) packaging and choice of Royal Mail or courier, and offering choices so that you can choose price vs speed/security, but I am obliged to factor this in.
  • RETURNS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. While traditionally sellers have covered post costs with returns, I, in all conscience, regret that its just not cost viable to do that on all items, particularly lower value items. This is my policy:
    1. Premium BIN items with premium refund guarantee: if the item is not or does not perform as described, bid + post + post back will be refunded. If the item is returned for other reasons, bid + post will be refunded.
    2. Auctions and low value BIN's: I do not cover the return postage cost of any returned item (unless otherwise agreed).
    3. Returns on items sold as "spares repairs/for parts", in the absence of a clear reason eg misdescription on my part, will only be undertaken after adjudication on your reason/complaint by eBay.
    4. I ask buyers to cooperate with a cancel-transaction case (if necessary), this is for me to get an ebay credit - it's just a formality, all you have to do is click OK.
    5. If you want signed for and it's not in the post options offered, please ask. Should you not be available at the time of a delivery requiring a signature, a card or message is normally left by the courier/postman. If you have not received your item or a failed delivery card within 4 working days, please then contact me so I can assist with pursuing the status of the delivery.
I aim to keep my buyers happy - check my feedback. Bid with confidence.
  • Proof of posting will always be kept. The responsibility for claims for loss in the post are on the recipient (which I will be happy to assist with). The responsibility for pursuing a claim with a courier is on the purchaser of the service, normally myself. In that case it is essential for buyer and seller to work together to establish the claim. Please communicate promptly, take pictures, document the claim basis, send to me. Note that courier claims exclusion clauses are pretty catch-all. I PACK AND LABEL CAREFULLY!!
  • Please note, if you receive a failed delivery notification, it will be your responsibility to arrange either a redelivery or to collect from the local depot yourself. Should the item be returned, a second postage charge will be made to resend.
  • Goods will be marked as despatched on posting. If you wish to be notified on the day that your goods have been despatched via e-mail just let me know. I use your address as written on the Ebay order details, copied and printed. If capitals have not been used I now just assume that perhaps you want to write your name like that!
  • Once you receive your goods, please inspect them for any damage during transit, and report the said damage within 24hrs via e-mail. If all is well please leave feedback, so I am aware that you have received your goods. Please note that if there are any problems, contact me giving full details of any problem.
  • Posting to foreign addresses: please ask before bidding. All shipping to foreign addresses at bidders OWN RISK. I reserve the right to decline to ship to some countries.
  • I accept no responsibility for goods delayed due to the delivery services.
  • Once a bid has been placed, it is a legally binding contract of purchase.
  • I reserve the right to remove bids from negative, zero or low feedack bidders (in practice I wish to think well of you all).
  • Payment by paypal within 24 hours is preferred unless otherwise stated. Payment by cheque or transfer must be received within 3 working days of purchase, however if this is not possible, please let us know to discuss solutions.
  • If payment is not received within 7 days of purchase then a Non Paying Buyer Dispute  will be filed.
  • I believe in honest and fair trading. I take care in describing the items clearly and accurately.
