After taking redundancy in 2010 from a Swindon call-centre, Steve decided to pursue his life-long dream of becoming a writer-illustrator by applying for a place on the Children's Book Illustration MA course at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Steve's debut, THE QUEEN'S HAT, won the Oscar's First Book Prize, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize, and his Shaun the Sheep sculpture, based on THE QUEEN'S HAT, raised £15,000.00 for the Wallace and Gromit Children's Charity. The book was also adapted into a concert by the London Synphony Orchestra. Steve's other books include the Greenaway nominated PLEASE MR PANDA, GREEN LIZARDS VS RED RECTANGLES and MONSTER IN THE HOOD books; and he's also illustrated a cover of the Famous Five.
