Hook-Ups were designed to target bigger species, both in the UK and abroad. Due to the design, fish are lip-hooked, easy to handle and unhook. 

Conger fishing was the original inspiration - too many hooks were getting swallowed and fish were wrapping the line around them, making releasing them difficult and unsafe for the fish and angler. 

RIG UPDATE.................. 

We have now had reports of over 200 Congers landed on Hook-Ups! What is amazing is that every one was Lip Hooked!

The goal was to produce a rig that would - 

•     Prevent fish from becoming deeply hooked so that they could be returned undamaged.

•     Snag less easily than conventional boat rigs when fishing over rough ground.

•     Be easy to unhook from larger species such as congers, giving anglers and skippers something on which to hold.

•     Be quick and simple to change hooks, flyers and snoods when targeting different species and for competition use.

•     Be available in enough sizes to cover any situation - whether at drift or at anchor.

•     Utilise powder-coated leads which are hard-wearing and crack resistant. They would also be luminous and act as a fish attractor.

They have been rigorously tested by anglers and charter skippers in the UK and also Norway and Iceland. They've proved to be incredibly popular. An increasing number of Charter skipper are using them on their hire gear and recommending them for people to use on their own gear.  

The coating we apply is a high quality baked vinyl, which provides a durable finish which is resistant to cracks, chips, flaking and fading. These have been very popular in our shop, and they're now available to buy on-line
