For auction is an original GPO black bakelite wall rotary telephone.Made by Brittish Ericsson, model No N1071.

The telephone has been converted for use on BT lines and other lines that support pulse dialing ( all ready to be plugged in and to be used straight away).

This is a nice example of a GPO(General post office) telephone.The GPO used various manufacturers for supplying there telephones.This telephone was made by Brittish Ericsson.I believe it is a hard to find model.

The handset has 184 54 stamped on it,which dates the telephone to the 1950.s. It has its original  cord which has no damage.The handset,earpiece and mouthpiece have no cracks,chips or scratches.

The telephone case has a pleasing gloss patina and it has no cracks,scratches or damage.The case opens up by a screw at the righthand side and mounts to the wall by the backplate.

 
The dial is of the type No 10 which is rarer than the usual No 12.The dial backplate is of the enamelled type with black figures and has no damage.The dial has been serviced,lubricated and adjusted  to give a smooth reliable operation while dialing out.


The telephone has been fitted with a resistor to stop the telephone from hogging the line on incoming calls.The telephone has that characteristic and nostalgic sound and tone.
