This is a vintage period book page of two etchings back to back by E.T. Hurley. Mr. Hurley lived from 1869 to 1950. He is famous on two fronts. First, his etchings, paintings and illustrations made him a major architectural and landscape artist, particularly those dealing with his native city of Cincinnati. Secondly, as the leading artist of Rookwood Pottery, his name is forever prominent in the annals of American art pottery. Hurley first studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy, under Frank Duveneck. His first works were mainly in the field of art pottery and in 1904 was awarded with the Gold Medal for originality in art workmanship at the St. Louis World's Fair.

The first side is entitled "The Wharf at Cincinnati" and the second "Valley Scene." Interesting text about Mr. Hurley accompanies. No date. The page measures 8 1/4" by 11 3/4" and is in good condition--light edge damage and corner bumps and light age yellowing. Please see my other auctions for more Hurley etchings. I'm happy to ship them together for one charge.
