I have a very unusual and rare

INCLINOMETER

by E.R. WATTS & SON, LONDON

well known manufacturers of optical surveying equipment.

This piece, marked 1918, No.7548, and with the Broad Arrow, is lacquered hardwood and brass, BUT NOT OPTICAL.

It is formed of three Limbs and when folded measures 126cm/49.5".  One limb contains a spirit level and rule, apparently for use when the limbs are folded.

When opened, it forms a triangle, held in place with a neat brass catch.  Another limb has a small cache containing a plumb bob and line, which lines up with a series of graduated marks on each limb.

Considering, it has seen some service, it is in very good used condition.

It is not clear to me what exactly its military use was.  Possibly, for surveying or artillery.

Whichever, it is a fascinating collector's piece, and rare.

Please see photo's, but if you need more information, please get in touch.

Thanks for looking.
