SUBJECT: Original snapshot photo of the AAF 406th Fighter Group: 406th FG airmen with front view of a shot down wreck of German Focke Wulf Fw190 figther, Mourmelon, France, 1944.

Photo(s) came from Victor (Vic) Kuzman of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Victor was a homing station truck operator for the 406th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force. During D-Day and the fight for Normandy his crew homed in crippled aircraft returning across the English Channel to the Margate airfield. During the Battle of the Bulge, the P-47 Thunderbolts of the 9th Fighter Group (based at Mourmelon) concentrated their missions within a ten mile radious of Bastogne to support the surrounded 101st Airborne Division (December 23-27, 1944). During the next few weeks I will be listing lots of superb photos from ViC Kuzman of the 9th Fighter Group as well as captured and crashed German fighters, bombers, and rockets.
