eBay

She is a series 3 landrover, 109 inch wheelbase high capacity pick up Stage One.  First registered in 1982  This particular body type is rare, only 4 are registered in the UK apparently.  I bought it from Richard Hall of Glencoyne Engineering for £350 as a restoration project.  He then restored the vehicle to my chosen requirements, I wanted the vehicle to be a working vehicle so was not concerned about bodywork, at a cost of over £5000.00.  I took delivery of her in November 2008.  She has the Rover V8 Engine and is as original as possible, very clean with no rust on the usual landy rust points.  I have taken the exhaust out to the side to make a little more of the V8 engine noise.  It is permanent 4 wheel drive, has a diff lock and Hi and Low ratio 4 speed gearbox.  All of the electrics work and it has the heavy duty tow bar with power socket.  Please remember that this is a utility vehicle, they were not made for comfort.  There is no headlining as the half inch thick black foam rotted away a long time ago, there is a slight oil leak from the front swivel joint (typical landy) and the speedo needs to be repaired.  The list price of a "grade A" example of a stage one is £5000-00p so I think my asking price of £3500-00p is very reasonable considering the condition of this soon to be 30 year old classic.  I will remove the air horn from the roof and the red ladder rack from behind the cab before sale.  I also have receipts and records of restoration and history of the vehicle.  Thank you,

Hi below is a question sent from a listing viewer and the answer that I sent which may be of interest to anyone interested in this Landy:

  QUESTION:

Hi,I just noticed that the rear tailgate, and the rear light arrangement is not Series 3, or even stage 1. With the 'Stage 1 Green' seat bases, the A.A.? front end, the Green,(again none stage 1 ~ door tops),and the white interior..what colour was it originaly? ... and with the non standard exhaust system it isn't very 'original' for a stage 1 is it? Also I wondered what is the bundle of electric wiring next to the washer bottle? , also how many miles has the vehicle done? and what are the engine numbers / & chassis numbers please? How deep is the damage to the NSR front of the rear tub?,as the NSF damage looks pretty deep on the wing front.

ANSWER:

Thanks for your enquiry and I apologise for not getting back sooner, I contacted Glencoyne Engineering to answer your questions as they did the work. I think there may be some confusion over how original this vehicle is. I tried to keep it as original as possible with a limited budget and limited parts available. The reason this truck is rare is not because it is a stage one but because of the body type, i.e the high capacity body. The rear tailgate is from a 110 hi cap as the original was impossible to locate. The rear light clusters are correct for the stage one high cap. The seat bases and yellow wings are from donor vehicles hence the different colour but are still stage one. The door tops are from an early 110 as we needed to find replacements and it was felt that these were superior as both glass panels slide to open and close. The electrical wiring next to the washer bottle is the cluster of wiring connections between the main loom and the headlights/sidelights and this is how it would have been out of the factory apparently. The original colour was limestone. I will send you the engine number etc when I am home again after tomorrow evening as I do not have the details to hand. If you care to mail me directly on gnipper75@aol.com I will send you pics of the damage so you can judge for yourself. Hope this helps.
