TOKINA AT-X 24-40 F/2.8 CANON EF CONVERSION V. RARE AVAILABLE NOW ON EF DIGITAL (#230676010620)

TOKINA AT-X 24-40 F2.8

The Tokina AT-X 24- 40mm is a twenty year-old lens that hails from the manual focus era of film cameras, don’t let that put you of this is one of the sharpest lenses ever made, just Google and be over awed by the reviews this oldie obtains.. One heck of a sharp lens. The lens was released in 1986 and discontinued in 1997. The AT-X designation stands for "Advanced Technology Extra" and is normally a designation given to Tokina's zoom lenses. Tokina itself was founded by former Nikon executives and engineers who split from the optics leader to concentrate on zoom lens design.

Overall, the lens is similar in optical construction to the legendary Vivitar 24-48 mm f/2.5 Series 1 macro. The Series 1 line was the first line by a third-party manufacturer meant to compete directly with the top lenses from Nikon, Canon, and other industry leaders. The AT-X line has its origins as Tokina's own premium offering and parallel challenge to Nikon Canon and Vivitar Series 1; both the Tokina 24-40mm F2.8 lenses achieved critical acclaim and cult status among shooters of the time, and now on digital still do, although this is the first example of this lens now on CANON EF without corrective glass.

Though originally bought to compliment my manual focus lenses, the AT-X macro lens continues to render superior quality well, and it was this that suggested Canon EF conversion into the digital age. In the opinion of many and the recent photodo results this is the sharpest lense made for 35mm. the Tokina AT-X 24-40mm f/2.8 Tokina-made.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE LENS DOCTOR

A little bit about The Lens Doctor, many people will recognise my name having played for some years in famous Rock Groups, Thin Lizzy, Creed and some time with John Coghlan, Status Quo…Badfinger and of Course Pilot, but my early years were spent learning my trade repairing cameras, photocopiers and lenses with Canon UK, hence my knowledge of Canon equipment. It was through people asking me to repair lenses that I have brought about this shop.

When you purchase one of my lenses, we do not just tighten up Focusing Helicoids and adjust certain movements, Let me explain: The basic movements of a lens acts with the same principals as a piston when you turn the focusing ring the movements of inner parts move and displace air, to and from the lens body. This movement of air attracts fine dust and particles which are not always visible to the naked eye, but some do deposit themselves on to the inner parts of the lens, including the glass elements, and through time they do build up. If you can imagine what your spectacles would be like if you did not clean them often, hence the accumulation of dust in a lens is an unrecognised major issue producing haze and light scattering very much opposed to what the glass coatings are there to rectify, this before the untrained eye lowers effective contrast, and light transmission thus the lens is less sharp, no matter how effective it was when new. Please note that although you may read on some other e-bay sellers lens descriptions, fungus or it has internal dust, and the associated statement” but this does not affect the picture quality” LET ME ASSURE YOU IT DOES

If you are investing your hard earned monies on a second hand lens, if it has not been serviced you invariably are buying someone’s dust and problems especially older lens’s that were not weather proof sealed. At the Lens Doctor, with over 30year experience, we often see lenses purchased through other re-sellers; frequently fail our Quality Control standards.

I remember a saying my father used to say “ buy cheaply , you buy twice”, our re-furbished lenses are not the cheapest, we spend time making sure every part is checked cleaned set up and presented to you, with every care and detail as it came out of the factory. WE offer a no quibble guarantee on all our products and stipulate the time warranty on each separate lens.

** PLEASE REMEMBER WHEN YOU PURCHASE A 2ND HAND LENS, IF IT HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED YOU MAY BE THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY, DON’T GAMBLE BUY HERE

WITH CONFIDENCE AND GAURANTEE, PLEASE SEE BELOW RECENT FEEDBACK & COMMENTS RELATING TO PRODUCTS AND SERVICE **

Shipping costs explained: All my items are shipped using RECORDED DELIVERY, this service through Royal Mail costs £3.50 alone for signed for verification + your actual shipping (weight +size), but protects both the seller and the buyer through Pay Pal. For European shipping it may look expensive but all my Items are shipped by AIRSURE (where possible) without exception this service gives full traceability from door to door. I also try to use new boxes, new bubble wrap, and new packaging materials when shipping items, so my costs of £4.80 for small box service is a true cost of UK shipping. I do not, nor try to make, any extra profit from shipping unlike a lot of e-bay sellers.

I do try to emulate the exact detail of all items I auction. The pictures are taken by myself and represent the item as is, they have not been manipulated or re-touched in any way, and as such are governed by copyright laws, as are my layouts. Please be aware of this.

As an honest eBay seller, feedback is very important to me. I do want to earn a positive rating from you, so please contact me if you have any issues or problems. That positive rating also includes earning 5 Stars in all the Detailed Seller Ratings (DSR) categories. 4 stars may seem like a great score, however, eBay considers this sub-par. Their standards require sellers to maintain 4.8 & above or be penalised with higher fees & more - which could mean higher priced items for you.

I do try my hardest to give 5-Star Service by giving Clear, Accurate and Honest descriptions and also supply my own detailed Supersize pictures with precise detailed evaluation to the best of my ability.

If you are pleased with this transaction, please respond with all 5 Stars! If you are not pleased for any reason, Please contact me using the Contact Seller link on the auction page, and I will try and make it a Five Star Sale!
