Offered here is a very rare marked steam gauge from The Lowell Hardware Company, Idaho Springs, Colorado. Manufactured by Ashcroft Manufacturing Company with a patent date of April 12, 1896. Brass ring around edge holding glass in place. Ring is a push on type as opposed to threaded. Steam line attachment in place with pet cock working. Brass ring shows one small ding, glass intact with no nicks, cracks or breaks. I have never seen a gauge from the Lowell Hardware Company. Tough to find any steam gauges marked from a specific town or store. This type of gauge would have been used on a steam engine driving mine equipment such as a hoist or mining rock drills.
