We have up for auction an antique token necklace very similar to the ones that were worn by the Native Americans in the 19th century. The Token was found here in Arizona and was re-strung with very nice antique pipe stone or catlinite beads with a few glass trade beads. We have taken a close up picture of the hole in the token above so you can see that it was made a long time ago by either being drilled, pounded or melted with a hot awl. The Native Americans would either trade for or take these coins and tokens and use them for decorations.........
We have shown a Apache Warrior above wearing one around his neck but there is no way to prove for sure that a Native American owned it unless you were there at the time. There is no date on the token but we believe it is from the late 19th century and we could not find any information about it on the net but we are sure that someone out there will know when it was made and hopefully they will tell us...........
The necklace is about 15 inches long not including the token so it should fit around anyone's head or it would make an interesting addition to your Fur Trade or Native American display...............
