A 5 Gallon size vintage solid oak whiskey,wine or spirits barrel. Appears to date to the early to mid-1900`s based on the type of ring construction.  The barrel is in great condition structurally.  There are no cracks, splits or repairs.  The 6 rings are galvanized iron and have been repositioned and re-nailed into place to accomodate some shrinkage over the years.  There is only the one bung in the center.  There are no holes cut into either end for a spigot.  The cork appears original and is pretty well cracked and separated from use.

The wood staves were cleaned, lightly sanded , varnished and waxed to enhance the appearance and treat the old wood.  The barrel is not seasoned and hasn`t been used for storage for many years.  Based on the tightness of the staves and the lack of cracks and separations, I belive it might be possible to re-season it.  It is being sold as unseasoned and untested.  There is no odor detected inside the barrel.  Overall it measures 17 in. tall x 10 3/4 in. diameter at each end.  It is 39 in. around the middle.  It weighs approximately 14 pounds as shown.
