Mini 25 Convertible 1984 Austin Rover

998 cc A+ engine. Dual circuit disc brakes Reclining seats with head restraints 85K recorded miles NOTE Colour is white NOT Silver and Engine is 998 cc NOT 1,275 cc. Log book (V5) being changed to show correct engine. The Mini 25 was produced in August/September1984 to mark 25 years of Mini production. 5,000 were built of which 1,500 were exported, many to Japan.
The Mini 25 was based on the Mini Mayfair but was the first ordinary mini with, as standard: -

So in many ways the Mini 25 was the first modern mini, it was also the last to carry just an Austin badge, later ones were Austin-Rover or just Rover.
All Mini 25s were in silver and had 1,000 cc engines. This one has been repainted white many years ago and is now in need of a respray. Inside of boot and under bonnet is still silver.
Special editions were produced for every 5 years of the mini from the Mini Special in 1979 (20 years) through the Mini 25 to the Mini 30 (1989), Mini 35 (1994) and lastly in 1999 the Mini 40. The last Minis were made in 2000/01.
No official Mini convertibles were made until 1990s when 75 were made by a German firm LAMM for Rover and later a production version was made around 1996. A few Austin-Rover dealers in the 1980s offered a conversion on the Mini which still kept the Austin-Rover warranty. The conversion on this Mini 25 is not one of those and so far I have been unable to find out who did it or when. I know of 3 other convertible Mini 25s, though there may be more. This conversion has a cleverly engineered roll-over bar that replaces the roof strength and hoops that support the hood by locking over centre.

In 2010 rear subframe and rear brakes were refurbished and new shock absorbers fitted
In 2011 a new hood was made by W A Ramsey of Edinburgh and a tow bar was fitted. The battery was replaced and a new boot floor made. All ignition system parts replaced.
During the winter of 2011/12 the following was done: - All new front brakes, including new pipes, callipers, discs and pads All new front suspension with negative camber bottom arms, adjustable tie-rods, adjustable height (Hi-Los), ALL bearings, joints, suspension arms and rubber suspension cones New steering rack and track rod ends and alignment set up New inner and outer CV joints and new wheel-bearings New front tyres fitted. Alloy inlet manifold and 3 branch exhaust manifold and RC40 exhaust system Winding window mechanisms on both doors replaced and drivers door hinges replaced The wiper motor, gearing and wiper arms/blades replaced. New Halogen headlights.
During 2012 the following have been fitted: - Oil cooler Oil pressure gauge Vacuum or performance gauge Battery Voltmeter Cigarette lighter – to charge mobile!
Comes with the standard radio and mounting but radio is not working and not fitted.
There has been quite a bit welding done over the years new wings, A panels, sills and a new or refurbished rear subframe. There is some surface rust including some on the drivers door and at the bottom of the boot. There is a 1” tear in the passenger seat squab, otherwise the interior is in good condition.
