This is a nice 2 owner 78 LTD sporting it's original factory bodywork with less than 15K miles. I bought it last year from the 1st owner who was too elderly to ride it anymore. It was sold new at an inland Florida dealership who maintained it for this man and it was always garage kept while he owned it. I dismantled the bike over the winter to freshen the paint on the frame and fittings and carefully reassembled it this spring. It has brand new tires, maintenance free sealed battery, chain and sprockets, brake pads, neck and swingarm bearings, fork seals and dust boots, electronic ignition, Dyna coils and wires, clutch cable, rebuilt brake masters and calipers, rebuilt carbs and petcock, airbox boots and new oem filter. All of the lower engine case cover gaskets have been replaced including oil window and shift shaft seal, the valve clearances are dialed in and there is an automatic cam chain tensioner installed. All of the electrical parts are in excellent shape and work as designed.

This bike had been mothballed for about 12 years before I found it tucked into a corner of a walk in basement. The original paint looks very good for it's age and the tank interior is very clean. The pinstripes on the tank show minor wear and there is a small ding to the front right of cap as well a wave in sheet metal that the camera won't pick up. There is a small nick in left side tail pinstripe that you have to look hard to find. The original seat with clean rust free pan has a seam split in the middle that was repaired and some of the factory chrome and zinc plating on bolts are dull. Reproduction seat covers are easily found on ebay and the only modifications from stock is a 1" taller 'A' model kickstand requested by owner at the time of sale, new chrome gauge tops and a really nice Bosch halogen headlight insert. The yellowed factory coating on the lower fork legs was chemically stripped and then recleared showing their natural brushed finish and 2 brand new factory keys operate all 3 locks on the bike. The exhaust system still looks very good with one light scuff on the bottom of the #3 head pipe. The original left side had to be replaced for a large dent in the middle side of muffler. The replacement is a nice straight piece that could be rechromed with no other work; but currently the chrome on muffler shows alot of wear from some idiot who thought steel wool was a chrome cleaner. I am still looking for an upgrade at this time. There was a windshield installed when I got it with large clamps on the upper fork tubes that allowed some corrosion to start above and inside triple tree.

Comes with correct grab bar, factory mirrors, owners manual, crate manual, 1978 Kawasaki full line brochure and the original warranty slip for first owner. The only thing missing from making this a complete package is the tool kit and tray that sits under the seat. 1978 was Kawasaki's peak year for racing in all categories and many of these bikes ended up at the track or were dismantled for the drivetrain; so finding an unmolested 78 LTD is not as easy as you would think anymore. This bike is fun and easy to ride, just add gas and fresh oil every few thousand miles and it will serve you well for many years to come. It starts, runs, rides and stops beautifully and is a real time capsule that always draws a crowd. If you've finally come to terms with the fact that you are not going to find that mint Z1, Z1R or MK II at the local garage sale and just want to get back in the saddle; LTD's are a great alternative. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have and personal inspections are welcomed and encouraged. A $500 paypal deposit is due at auctions end with balance paid no later than a week by cash or bank wire transfer. Possible delivery is available in the northeast, but I would not be able to compete cost wise with a professional shipper - or; you could bring your plate and confidently drive it home...........
