This is the first year for the R60/5 and this particular one was the 1,003rd one ever built out of 8700 that were produced for 1970 making it a very desirable bike for a collector. I purchased this bike earlier this year for a customer that wanted to have us restore it. In the end the customer decided he wanted something more custom so we found another bike for his project as this one was to nice to customize. The person we purchased from had owned the bike for over 10 years and during this time he had told us the rear drive and transmission were rebuilt as well as a valve job and new piston rings and new wheel bearings. Very few miles were put on the bike after this work was preformed and the bike spent most of the time in a garage next to his Triumph for 5 years to be exact. He did keep up on the registration so there are no back fees and I have the title in hand.

Here is a list of what we have done:
Replace fork seals and fork oil
Change all fluids and the oil filter
New exhaust system
Westco AGM 19ah battery
New seat- proper for this year
Replated 80% of the original hardware as it would have been when the bike was new
New Euro low handlebars, Magura hand grips and BUMM mirror(all proper to keep the bike original)
New fuel line
New footpeg rubbers
New spark plug wires(not original but a very good quality)
Restored all of the turn signals with a Boxer Metal turn signal restoration kit
Rebuilt the carburetors with new gaskets and seals and all parts were replated as needed and the carburetor bodies ran through an ultra sonic cleaner

The bike has good tires, the paint looks good from 5 feet away and the speedometer does not work. All of the rubber and the cables are in great shape. Tickle the carburetors a few times and the bike fires right up and idles. I would not hesitate to ride it across country..

I have been restoring and customizing vintage BMW motorcycle for over 25 years as well as building sidecar rigs and metal fabrication. I am very passionate about my work. Google Boxer Metal BMW and you will find many videos and articles on bikes we have done in our shop and thousands of pictures.

Please feel free to call or text me with your questions at 530 520 7856 and ask for Chris I can have the speedometer rebuilt which would take 3-4 weeks at the Buy It Now price.
