I recently bought some wonderful lace from a Paris auction house, all from the collection of one un-named lady (Madame X in the catalogue!). I will be listing some pieces in the next few weeks.
This is a length of linen bobbin lace, probably Flemish and could be quite early. Bottom border a later addition. Excellent and clean condition, probably unused. 76 ins long. 4 ins wide. Back shows threads carried across motifs. On 26-Apr-15 at 08:58:29 BST, seller added the following information: Laurie Waters, in this week's Lace News dates this as probably late 18th / early 19th century. |
