This kit is the second enhanced version which reduced power consumption and solved some compatibility problems This specialised PCB is designed for thinkpad T420s/T430s, for the support of better screens with higher resolution and better color, as compared to original screen. For those of you who are fed up with the rubbish screen from lenovo, I'm now taking the hassle and offer you this chance for upgrading the screen on your T420s/T430s to a FHD 1080p screen. Although some people have succeeded with upgarding the screen to 1080p or better on T420s/T430s, their method are undoubtedly sophiscated and even involves the need for BIOS modification. This board eliminated the need for such and made it possible for the majority of people to upgrade the screens on their T420s/T430s. All the brightness controls work fine. And you can install screens far better than 93P5685, 93P5689 and 93P5693 ALL Credit for this marvelous modification belongs to Javi-Jie Notice: Installation 1. Currently, the screens that are confirmed to work with this board, are as following B140HAN01.0, B140HAN01.1, B140HAN01.2, B140HAN01.3 LP140WF1-SPB1 LP140WF1-SPU1 has been removed from the supported display list. Other screens may or may not work, experiment at your own risk. There are some sellers selling fake screens on ebay!!!! Please be aware!!!! You are responsible for finding the genuine screen yourself. A: Nope, T420/T430 non-s models have different screen socket pin-out as T420s/T430s. Currently, me and Javi-Jie are working on some issues with the non-s kits. It is more complicated on non-s models due to the interference from CPU PWR control and PWR control Q: Will there be similar kits for X220/X230? A: Unlikely. Because (1) X220/X230 have single channel LVDS, which is not enough for 1080p FHD. In comparison T420(s)/T430(s) have dual channel LVDS. So in one word, if you want FHD on X220/X230, you will need to give up the DP port on docking station (2) Also, in order for the brightness control to work perfectly, BIOS need to be modded, which isn't a problem on X220. However starting from X230, some SOB invented RSA-signed BIOS that ruled out the possibility to flash modded BIOS without a eprom programmer Q: Will there be a 2K (WQHD 2560 x 1440) version of the kit? A: Possibly. The technical specifications of the chip we use is able to handle that resolution. However due to the past experience of non-s kits flickering, even if there's development projects for such, it will start in small batchs within China, in other words, you won't be able to see it within 2 months Q: Will this work with my T420s with NVS4200m or my T430s with NVS5200m/NVS5400m? A: Yes Q: Which screen do you recommend? Are the screens on ebay reliable? A: Personally, I'd recommend B140HAN01.2, B140HAN01.3, other screens are better used with color calibration. I can't see any problem with the screens on ebay, but be aware that some Chinese sellers might be selling refurbished screens. If you have purchased a refurbished screen before, please let me know the seller's ID so that I can post here for warning. Q: Will it work with Mac OSX/Linux/GNU? A: Yes, but on OSX it's not a straight forward task, you will need EDID injection. I won't provide any help on this, but I'm pretty sure that you can get this done if you know how to install OSX on T420s/T430s. On linux/GNU it's as hassle-free as on windows.
